I think the use of the term “censorship” is misleading.
Technologically, nodes are deciding what they want to include more than they’re noting what they want to exclude.
How do you determine what is and isn’t any form of censorship in such a model?
Here’s how it’s done in traditional non-blockchain systems: You do away with the mempool altogether and you simply process all transactions in the order in which they’re received. You don’t turn the transaction queue into an auction, which basically is used to front-run other legit transactions. You make it simple and straightforward.
It’s as if nobody in the crypto world has ever heard of William of Ockham.
